Technical Sites: Site descriptions courtesy Deep Blue Divers
Location: 7km west of Phuket.
Depth: Minimum 57m / Maximum 60m
Due to inscriptions found on a brass plate retrieved from this wreck, it was discovered that this steamboat was constructed in Malaysia in 1928 for the Straits Steamship Company and seized by the Japanese during their occupation of Singapore. It is presumed she was used in coastal traffic before being sunk by the American submarine USS Grenadier in April 1943 off to the shores of Phuket. The hull stands upright with the propeller and rudder still being visible, although the superstructure has more or less collapsed. Since this site is very clearly laid out, it qualifies for training as well as fun diving in entry-level trimix diving.
