Barge CP1238

Technical Sites: Site descriptions courtesy Deep Blue Divers
Location: East of Koh Racha Noi.

Depth:
Minimum 69m / Maximum 74m

This was a large working platform pulled by a tugboat that sank in 1999, when the hull sprang a leak. The crew of the tugboat tried to pull the pontoon into shallow waters, but without success. On the way to the bay, it listed and various pieces slid overboard, including a truck complete with trailer, a car crane and a large quantity of pile sheets. The platform then sank. The barge rests upright on the sand at 74m. There are two hydraulic presses at the stern next to some superstructure on the deck. In the middle of the platform stands a large generator. The barge is still in excellent condition and the high visibility and moderate currents allow less experienced tech-divers to complete a very interesting dive.
